About Us

Myna Sounds is a sample label created by Simon Newby, aka “Da Sunlounge”.

We aim to provide tools for producers, musicians and sound designers to incorporate the sound of classic hardware and current high end hardware into their modern productions.

We believe that preserving the sound of vintage gear is crucial to retain its character when sampled. We are committed to creating high-quality, innovative, and inspiring sample libraries, while constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible with vintage gear combined with modern technology, and we are always on the lookout for new and exciting sounds to capture!

Simon is also known for his work as a sound designer. He has created award winning sample packs and presets for Loopmasters, Korg, Plugin Boutique and Audiaire. Utilising his vast collection of vintage and modern musical hardware to create unique sounds that are popular among producers.

With a career spanning over 25 years, Simon is a veteran of the house music scene. Starting out as a club DJ, he quickly moved into production, with his early releases catching the attention of top DJs and labels. Over the years, he has released music on some of the biggest labels in the industry, including Cajual Recs, King Street, Defected, Mother Recordings, and many more. His remixes of Mood II Swing, Crazy P, Roland Clark, Miguel Campbell, and joint collaboration with Sonny Fodera and Inland knights have been well-received by fans and critics alike.

His music has been featured on numerous compilation albums and has been licensed for use in video games and advertising campaigns. In addition to his production work, Da Sunlounge runs several successful record labels, including Myna Music, Bambino Recordings and Borrowed Music.
